DCA BIM CAPABILITIES
WHAT IS BIM?
Building Information Modelling (BIM) is a three-dimensional modelling technology and an integrated process that allows the building professionals to explore the building project digitally, before it is built. BIM facilitates better framework among the professionals, helping to reduce unnecessary rework when the project is being constructed, improving the quality and speed of the project. BIM enables all parties in the value chain to visualize the design better, detect design problems early, and enhance planning, management and coordination for projects.
ENHANCEMENTS THROUGH BIM
As one of the leading architectural firms in Singapore to implement BIM, DCA has been at the forefront of adopting Building Information Modelling (BIM) through 3D modelling and coordination programs. This opens up the opportunity to explore exciting new technologies such as Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) with 3D virtual walkthrough features to allow all stakeholders a better understanding of the design at an early stage.
With our extensive experience and knowledge in Building Information Modelling (BIM), we are re-shaping how the building and construction industry with downstream benefits for contractors as well as estate managers. BIM models can be further developed for the purpose of project timeline (4D BIM) and cost management (5D BIM) and even facilities management (6D BIM). We believe that this will pave the way into the future how buildings are designed, constructed and run as it streamlines unnecessary work processes and resources which were a current bane of the traditional methods.
We have adopted a ‘digital design’ approach through Integrated Digital Delivery (IDD) towards all our designs by using computational tools, intelligent objects, automated code compliance checkers, 3D printing technology and virtual reality (VR).
OUR BIM AWARDS
BCA has introduced the BCA Building Information Modelling Awards (Organization) and BCA Building Information Modelling Awards (Projects) to recognize outstanding project teams that have implemented BIM in their projects from design to the construction stages.
Some of the key assessment criteria for the selection of winners include the extent and effect of design and construction collaboration with the use of BIM technology as well as innovative tools used to overcome obstacles faced, amongst others. BIM technology is recognised as a key enabler in helping to improve integration across the construction value chain, including optimising off-site manufacturing. By involving suppliers and manufacturers in the BIM coordination process, it can reduce waste and improve logistics and value for all stakeholders.
DCA has won the Platinum award in the BCA Building Information Modelling Award 2015 Organization Category.
Since 2014, DCA has received numerous BIM awards. To date, the award-winning projects are:-
|Platinum (2017)||NTU-Learning Hub North project (The Arc)|
|Platinum (2015)||Mapletree Business City II project|
|GoldPLUS (2016)||Corals at Keppel Bay project|
|GoldPLUS (2014)||Bedok Mixed Development project (Bedok Mall and Bedok Residences)|
